Frequently Asked Questions
ah puaz’ very own list of Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is ‘puaz13′?
A: ‘Pua’ is my surname. And when I was in my early teenage years, my ego tells me that putting a ‘z’ behind my surname makes my identity more “cool”. HaHa! Yes, I know, I’m mocking at myself as I’m typing this. But hey, don’t we all have silly identities when our hormones were raging and wanted to be “cool”? Though back then, it may seem like the coolest sounding identity that you’ve ever created in your whole damn life, nothing else matters – or so it seems. ’13′ is my favourite number. So with the combination of my my surname and my favourite number, alas! An identity for myself was born – ‘puaz13′. Being proud of my very own creation, I would used it anywhere, from IRC nicks to email adds to profiles – everywhere!
Slowly move out of those teenage years, I gradually use less of my teenage identity. I had to. We all conform to that.
Now, I use ‘jinwenhere’. I assume it’s almost idiot-proof why I use that? If not, then maybe I’ve failed big time.
I’m still keeping to ‘puaz13′ for this blog of mine as I wanted to keep this as personal as possible – I don’t want to lose the young, fun and maybe even childish side of me. Don’t expect anything serious here. It’s my playground, and I’m most welcome to have anyone play with me.
Q: Why are you called ‘ah puaz’?
A: ‘ah puaz’ is my nickname. Asians add the word ‘ah’ in front of their names to include a touch of “familiarity” or “friendliness”. But it doesn’t work on all names though. You got to understand to use it. My secondary school buddies called me by this nickname. I like. So since then, this nickname has become part of me.
Q: Do you have any other nicknames?
A: Yeah. Alot. Here’s a few common ones: puaz13, ah puaz, Jay, Ah-Jin-Jin, Giraffe, Giffy, Fido Dido, Stickman, Praying Mantis, The Long One, Mr. J (to my students)
Q: I’m confused. So are you a designer or a dancer?
A: I do freelance for both. I’m in my Polytechnic’s dance group, Foreign Bodies and also Singapore Soka Association‘s Arts and Culture Group, Soka Youth Dance Crew (SYD’Crew)
Q: Do you consider yourself more of a designer or a dancer?
A: That’s hard. I love being both. I have passion and interst in both design and dance. They’re like hobbies to me.
Q: How tall are you? What’s your height?
A: 1.85m, on last measure. I have no idea how many feet that is.
Q: Woh! That’s very tall (for an Asian)!
A: Yes, I know.
Q: Can I call you giraffe?
A: Can I say no? Well, of course you can. Alot of my friends call me that.
Q: Don’t stand beside me/I don’t like to stand beside you, you’re too tall.
A: Ok. Then I think I’ll be alone 96.54321% of the time.
Q: Are you gay?
A: Yes I am. Everyday.
Q: Seriously, are you gay?
A: Seriously! I am gay! Everyday!
Q: That’s so gay.
A: Ok. Point taken.
